In 2000, small changes were made to improve the Terios. Models that were comparatively expensive were outfitted with a central locking system along with electric windows at the front. In addition to this, this vehicle featured sports seats, metallic painted updated interior and dials with white face.

The first generation Toyota Cami and Daihatsu Terios are known by many other names in the global car market. In 2006, the second generation Camis and Terios were launched. They were having different names in different countries. It was known as Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Bengo in china and Japan whereas in Turkey, it was called as Daihatsu Yeni Terios. In Chile, it was named as Daihatsu Terios Wild.

The second generation Terios features 1700mm width measurement which is comparatively extended as compared to the first generation that has 1500mm width. In 2005, initially the Daihatsu D-Concept 4×4 was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show. In 2006, it was produced with the changed name as Daihatsu Terios. In Japanese market, the Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Bengo replaced the Terio.

Malaysia and Indonesia launched the second generation Daihatsu and Toyota having extended wheelbases in 2008 and 2006 respectively. In 2008, Malaysia also introduced the Perodua Nautica. It was available with automatic transmission at the same costs having the extended wheel base Toyota Rush. It is available in gray and black color options. This vehicle features a 1.5 liter DVVT power plant having lockable central headlamp.
