SALT LAKE City (ABC4) – A person has been arrested for stealing a car and crashing it on Thursday early morning.

Salt Lake Metropolis Police first received studies of a stolen SUV from a Motel 6 all around 5 a.m.

The suspect has been identified as Davis Stoney, 28.

Police noticed the stolen motor vehicle close to 1300 South State Street and attempted to pull Stoney about. The person noticed officers and immediately sped absent “in a reckless manner.”

At some place, the stolen car was spotted in a parking lot behind Salt Lake Neighborhood Higher education.

Authorities say Stoney experienced crashed into a barrier, creating the car or truck to roll above. The SUV was discovered overturned, lying completely on its facet versus a chainlink fence.

Police say Stoney exited the vehicle and sat on major of the SUV for 30 minutes, refusing to get down or cooperate with officers.

Just after quite a few warnings, police fired many bean bag rounds from a “less-lethal shotgun” to get him down from the SUV. The action was unsuccessful and Stoney remained on major of the auto. Law enforcement “developed a tactical plan” solution and finally took him into custody.

Stoney was transported to a nearby clinic with slight injuries.

He has been into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on expenses of Possession of a Stolen Motor vehicle, Interfering with an Arresting Officer, and Fleeing in a Vehicle.
