Boy, 8, drove off in mother’s car with sibling in back

n 8-calendar year-old boy drove by way of a town in North Carolina with his infant sibling in the again seat, police said.

The child’s mother handed him her keys and requested him to get started the car or truck as they remaining a relative’s residence on Tuesday night, WSOC-TV reported.

In a 911 simply call, the boy’s mom reported that the two youngsters have been lacking and claimed they weren’t absolutely sure if another person stole the car or a youngster drove it away.

“We attempted to chase him down the road,” she told the 911 operator.

Gastonia Law enforcement spokesman Rick Goodale said the 8-year-aged, who is about 4 feet, 6 inches tall, drove almost 2 miles to his home, then remaining once again prior to authorities stopped him quite a few blocks later.

“These streets that he travelled are not backcountry roadways with no other vehicles. These are nicely-travelled streets in the metropolis of Gastonia,” Goodale stated. “This could have ended in tragedy.”
